Africa, Ireland, The Middle East, Asia, Latin and South America, and The Caribbean—Globalization

I'm really not trying to be flippant here. But if I had to summarize much of this section in just a few words, it would be for the most part, "U.S. Out" of somFree Soviet Jewsewhere, "U.S. Free" somebody, or "U.S. Hands-off" someplace. Over 33 buttons present a world-wide U.S. policy debate, most of which is still with us today, pertaining to such places as Iraq, Iran, Israel, Ireland, Palestine, Taiwan, El Salvador, Korea, Vieques, and others. It's the buttons, however, pertainiFreedom for Irelandng to the causes of Soviet Jewry, Biafra, apartheid, and Africa which are among my favorites. This "chapter" grouping also includes two recent "globalization" buttons highlighting the World Bank, IMF, and WTO. Obviously, the historical "footnote" provides some background on the buttons, and spells out the full names and founding dates of many of the organizations; from SWAPO to the JDL, from the IRA to the PLO.
