Vietnam

50,000 GIs Dead in VainThere are almost 140 buttons and images portraying the Vietnam War era within the "Buttons of the Cause" poster. Some of the earliest, such as the April 1965 March on Washington, date back to the early 1960s. I attempted to select those buttons that best depict and Mobilization to end the war now April 15, 1967 buttonprovide an overview of the history, the wonderful artwork and graphics, the specific issues, and the major events and personalities of that era. The narrative at the bottom of the page provides an historical "footnote" full of facts, dates, and trivia pertaining to the dates of the demonstrations, marches, and protests, as well as when many of the groups and organizations associated with the buttons or anti-war movement were founded. When possible, we attempted to include examples of the opposing view as well. This is our biggest section and we certainly tried to include as much as possible; from Jane Fonda to Donna Reed, My Lai to Kent State, Columbia University to Dr. Spock, SDS to Woodstock, the 1967 March on the Pentagon to the 1970 March for Victory, and from the Vietnam Veterans Against the War to the American Friends Service Committee....it's all here.
